elements you have written. Both the opening an ending tag needs to start and stop with < and >. You have left the > off the starting tag.
If you add them like this:
<!DOCTYPE html>
<html>
<head>
<title>Lists and Links</title>
</head>
<body>
<ul>
<li><a href="cakes.html">Cakes</a></li>
<li><a href="pies.html">Pies</a></li>
<li><a href="candy.html">Candy</a></li>
</ul>
</body>
</html>
Then your code will pass.
