i don't understand

Could someone please help with this challenge, this makes absolutely no sense to me, and how do you add a # IT WAS NEVER IN THE VIDEO

This is one way you could do it:

userName += "#" + lastName.toUpperCase();

The += operator will concatenate (add) what's on the right to the string. It's the same as saying username = userName +. Then I'm adding the "#" symbol, and the lastName in uppercase with the same method as before. Let me know if you have more questions.
