I don't know how to set the value of echo to be the results from calling the returnValue function.

Well, just in general, to set the value of somevariable to the result of calling somefunction:

var somevariable = somefunction(arguments);

Yep. And in a sense, you can almost imagine that a function "is" the result that it returns. You may be getting hung up on the echo "the results" part of the question.

The function... returns the results. :) The function "is" the results. And Steven has provided a great template for you.
