I can't get Xcode to build and run on my old computer

I'm on Beginner iOS track and at a point where I need to use Xcode project rather than Playground. But I cant get my 5-year old Mac laptop to build and run. It gets stuck at Indexing stage. Is there a trick to make this work? or I just need to get a new computer?

get the an older version of Xcode here https://idmsa.apple.com/IDMSWebAuth/login?appIdKey=891bd3417a7776362562d2197f89480a8547b108fd934911bcbea0110d07f757&path=%2Faccount%2F&rv=1 or get a new one.

Yeah, it might make sense to use the older version to get through the course since the course video doesn't use the most up-to-date Xcode anyhow. Thanks for the idea!
