Hey Kevin,

Personally, I never use the Workspaces. In the real-world, there will be no Workspaces, so I believe it best anyways to always code locally.

For Java, I use an IDE... IntelliJIDEA to be specific. Treehouse does offer a course on coding Java in a Local Environment. Have a look.
