I am wondering what I am missing in this syntax for the exercise if( firstExample.equalsIgnoreCase(thirdExample) )

So I am attempting to set the condition to check if the "firstExample" string and "thirdExample" string are both ignoring case.

Equality.java
// I have imported a java.io.Console for you, it is named console.
String firstExample = "hello";
String secondExample = "hello";
String thirdExample = "HELLO";

if ( firstExample.equalsIgnoreCase(thirdExample) ) {
  console.printf( "first and third are the same ignoring case" );
}

I think you are not passing because your other if statement is gone.
