I am trying to add a class to the paragraph tag and this is what I did. <p>class="main-pg" My amazing website </p>

<p>class="main-pg"My amazing website </p>

index.html
<!doctype html>
<html>
  <head>
    <link href="styles.css" rel="stylesheet">
  </head>
  <body>

    <p>class="main-pg"My amazing website </p>

  </body>
</html>
styles.css

You have to put the class inside of the tag, like this:

<p class="any-class">We are talking about element classes.</p>

Another example:

<div class="container"></div>

I hope that helps a little bit.

Hey paul, remember thats class's and id's go inside the tags.

so it would be

<p class="main-pg"> My amazing website </p>
