How to clear the white background to transparent?

Hi,

The mentioned pencil logo has a white background, which may go well with same white background. But,

  1. how to change such unwanted spaces to transparent?
  2. what is the best format for sharing a logo file, which needs to be reused elsewhere in same way or for further editing) ?

Also if the logo has already been created and you do not have access to the original editable file, you should be able to remove the white background from the logo using Photoshop and then save it in PNG format as mentioned by Jag above.

However as already mentioned it is always best to start off with a transparent background when creating logos (in vector).

  1. Illustrator always starts off with transparent background & exporting as a PNG or Vector allows for transparent backgrounds.

  2. PNG or Vector type.

Thanks jag. I was looking on to the logo from video, which has white background. As you told, we can start off with a transparent bg.
