CSS

How is Dom different from CSS?

They seem very similar to me, is learning DOM necessary since you can do a lot of that in CSS?

While there are a few dynamic effects that can be provided by CSS alone, such as transitions and animations, there is a huge wealth of possibilities that can only be tapped by using JavaScript to directly manipulate the DOM.

By all means, study CSS first if you find it more appealing, but if you decide you want to continue towards mastery of front-end development, you'll eventually learn to use the DOM as well.
