3,014 PointsHow does request.cookies.get work?
It's one of many things completely brushed over without explanation. But this one I can't understand by googling it. Is this data read from the cookie and sent along with the user request? Or does the server send out a request for the data on the cookie?

Treehouse Moderator 68,457 PointsThe browser sends all cookies with each user request send to the server. In flask, the request object is created from the information sent from the browser to the server. All cookies sent from the browser are put in the cookies
attribute. This dictionary attribute has the get
method. Using the get
method allows looking for a specific cookie name without worrying about raising an error if the named cookie does not exist.
