how do you concatenate a # symbol between two variables?

I wrote

var id = "23188xtr"; var lastName = "Smith"; var userName = id + '#' + lastName.toUpperCase();

app.js
var id = "23188xtr";
var lastName = "Smith";

var userName = id + '#' + lastName.toUpperCase();

Your very close on this one, just add the toUpperCase() method to the var id and you should be good to go:

var id = "23188xtr";
var lastName = "Smith";

var userName = id.toUpperCase() + '#' + lastName.toUpperCase();
