How do you change home.html

How do you change home.html to just home without the .htaccess file?

You need to use the .htaccess file. HTML is only for front end, .htaccess files change how the browser loads the pages and such. You can use this code with your .htaccess file.

RewriteEngine On
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
RewriteRule ^([^\.]+)$ $1.html [NC,L]
