6,339 PointsHow do I programmatically create TextViews and add them to a Layout from an anonymous OnClickListener?
I am working on an app that will accept a person's name and their score. When the Save button is clicked, I would like the name and score entered to appear in a list. Below I've included my code:
package com.doublel.drawingcontest;
import android.support.v4.widget.NestedScrollView;
import android.support.v7.app.AppCompatActivity;
import android.os.Bundle;
import android.view.View;
import android.widget.Button;
import android.widget.TextView;
public class MainActivity extends AppCompatActivity {
private Contest contest = new Contest();
private TextView nameEditText;
private TextView scoreEditText;
private Button saveParticipantButton;
private Button startContestButton;
private NestedScrollView participantList;
@Override
protected void onCreate(Bundle savedInstanceState) {
super.onCreate(savedInstanceState);
setContentView(R.layout.activity_main);
this.nameEditText = findViewById(R.id.nameEditText);
this.scoreEditText = findViewById(R.id.scoreEditText);
this.participantList = findViewById(R.id.namesListView);
this.saveParticipantButton = findViewById(R.id.nameSaveButton);
this.saveParticipantButton.setOnClickListener(new View.OnClickListener() {
@Override
public void onClick(View v) {
//do something when the Save Participant button is pressed
String name = nameEditText.getText().toString();
int score = Integer.parseInt(scoreEditText.getText().toString());
if(name.length() > 0 && score > 0){
contest.addParticipant(name, score);
//add TextViews for the participant name and score
nameEditText.setText("");
scoreEditText.setText("");
nameEditText.requestFocus();
}
}
});
this.startContestButton = findViewById(R.id.startDrawingButton);
this.startContestButton.setOnClickListener(new View.OnClickListener() {
@Override
public void onClick(View v) {
//do something when the Start Contest button is pressed
}
});
}
}
