How do I make a conditional view?

I want to ask the user for their address if they haven't provided it before. This should only happen the first time they run the app or if they want to update their address.

Do I check for the property in the viewDidLoad and if it's not there present the view? Do I have it be the initial view and if they've already provided it push on my actual root view? Do I handle it in the app delegate and dynamically change my root view? I'm lost on where to start for this.
