By default, the body has a margin all around.

But since you are using absolute positioning anyway, just place the footer at the left edge (offset 0):

  left: 0;

Also, all page content (including the footer) should be inside the body element. To prevent that from causing your positioned element to scroll, you could use "fixed" instead of "absolute" position.
