JavaScript JavaScript Basics (Retired) Storing and Tracking Information with Variables Using String Methods

How do I figure out the 2nd question on the code challenge "Using String Methods"?

JAVASCRIPT CODE CHALLENGE: USING STRING METHODS var id = "23188xtr"; var lastName = "Smith";

var userName = id.toUpperCase(); var message = id + '#' + lastName.UpperCase(); {second line right or wrong?}

app.js

hey ! 1- you have to call the toUpperCase() methode on both of the id and the last name, and assign them to the username variable, that what being asked of you in the code challend

var id = "23188xtr";
var lastName = "Smith";

var userName = id.toUpperCase() + '#' + lastName.toUpperCase();

2- regardless of the challenge, in your case, you already used the toUpperCase on the id and assigned it to the variable username, so in your message variable, you can use the username variable that equals to id.toUppeCase(), and you ll get the same result

var userName = id.toUpperCase();
var message = userName + '#' + lastName.UpperCase();

Cheers
