You should buy or rent this textbook. A lot of colleges use this textbook, and for good reason. There are about 10-12 programming challenges, true/false and short answer questions after each chapter to help solidify the concepts. You're not just being lectured at and then left to figure out how to apply the concepts on your own. There are lots of code examples to help you understand the material too.
