Python Python Basics Functions and Looping Create a Function

Hello, im not sure why my code wont pass the test. It keeps telling me "Make sure you create a variable named result"

Please feel free to point out my mistakes. Im stuck on this question and I cant seem to figure it out.

def square(number):
    return number * number
    result = square("3")
    print(result)

You are on the right track. The first mistake I noticed right away is the "3". Numbers don't need double-quotes. The only time double quotes are used is in strings. The challenges are picky on indentation. So the mistake is to remove quotes and fix the indentation.

def square(number):
    return number * number

result = square(3)
print(result)
