Having issues breaking out of the loop

Im having issues breaking out of the loop and I'm sure its something stupid i'm missing.

breaks.py 
def loopy(items):
    # Code goes here
    for item in items:
        print(items)
        if items == "STOP":
            break

it should be like this: def loopy(items): # Code goes here for item in items: if items == "STOP": break else: print(items)

JUST READ THE QUESTION , after satisfying the condition then print.

break should probably be in a while loop add (while True:)

I tried wrapping the for loop and everything below inside a while look and got "Took to long to run"
