FTP hosting advice

I am on the Wordpress development track. I am sorry in advance for the complexity of my ask!

I'm on the Wordpress Development track Qu 1. Although we have installed Wordpress locally, we are uploading and downloading files from the FTP as we go. Is that just to keep on top of changes to files? Can I just upload once at the end?

Qu 2. I have FTP setup issues. I have always used my business domain to put website files as they were for my business website. I used Cyberduck to upload. I can upload direct to my cpanel but I have to do that one file at a time. As I have to upload the whole website they are using in the tutorial, loading each file one by one is seriously annoying. So in trying to setup to follow along with the tutorial I have set up wordpress on my ftp and installed locally. (All fine)

But it turns out that I cannot connect to my domain server because my domain points to my temporary homepage on Wix! This means that I can't upload multiple files without buying another domain so I can upload the files to that.

I just wondered if anyone has any other solution to this problem - of not being able to connect to my domain by FTP in order to upload and download files for the class.

Its a muddled question, but if anyone can see what my problem is and has any suggestions I would hugely appreciate it. I am stuck in moving forward with the course until I can sort it.

Thank you for your reply, but I'm sorry, I didn't really understand what this is? There is no explanatory text on their site. They offer cloud storage space. I was asking about the best way to deal with websites I am building and how to house them in the short-term until they are finalised and made live.
