FTP and local hosting

I'm a little confused. Do I need to do any of this FTP stuff in order to edit themes and look at them on a local server?

Or, do I need to do any of the FTP stuff while I'm in the process of Local Development via MAMP?

Hi Gabriel,

I've added this in your previous post but just in case you hadn't seen it...

FTP is File Transfer Protocol and is used to transfer your files to your server. If you're working locally via MAMP it won't be needed.

The Website Basics course has a section on FTP which you may find useful.

There is also a Local WordPress Development course within the WordPress Development track which I'd recommend working through to clear anything up.

Hope that helps.
