You are very close. The built-in function input must be called to prompt the user. By adding the word "input" before the parens, the statement becomes a function call:

favorite_color = input("the user prompt is first argument")

The challenge is looking for a specific string use as the prompt. Your string:

"what is your favorite_color" is not quite correct. The underscore needs removing and add a question mark followed by a space at the end.
