var id = "23188xtr";
var lastName = "Smith";
var id= (id.toUpperCase ())
var userName = id;
userName +='#' +=()

8,686 Pointsin the first question is asking you to transform to uppercase the value of id and store it in the userName variable. i see that you are trying to create a variable with the name of id. that is going to give you an error. because the variable id already exist. you were close you just need to save that to the userName variable
var id = "23188xtr";
var lastName = "Smith";
var userName = id; // here is where you need to transform it to uppercase.
the second question wants you to update the variable userName and add a '#' then use the same method you used in the first question to transform last name to upper case.
// you were actually so close on this one
userName += '#' // just need to add and transform lastName variable here
try copying the code and paste it to your text editor and console.log from there is way easier to understand how it works. i remember how hard was those challenges for me a few months ago. it gets better just keep practicing. i hope this helps.
