You have not initialized the editor variable. In your code snippet you have set the mSharedPreferences correctly, but you forgot to set the editor. After the mSharedPreferences, set the editor with the edit()-method on the SharedPrefereces object. The commit()-method must be called after you have saved something to shared preferences.
