Treehouse TeacherHi there! I wish I knew what you were trying that's failing, but I can already spot one error. Your randNumber
is supposed to be randomNumber
as required by the challenge specifications.
Java has something we call type inference. Some languages cannot add a string and a number together. But if you try to do this in Java, it understands that what you want is a string and will convert the result to a string. So we're going to use this trick:
Random randomGenerator = new Random();
int randomNumber = randomGenerator.nextInt(10);
String intAsString = randomNumber + "";
By adding an empty string to our randomNumber
it will convert the result to a string and store it back into intAsString
.
This was covered at about 3:39 in this video https://teamtreehouse.com/library/build-a-simple-android-app-2/basic-android-programming/generating-a-random-number
Hope this helps!
