Code challenge help

I've been figuring out what the problem is for a while now. Would someone please tell me what I'm doing wrong here?

Thanks!

// I have imported a java.io.Console for you, it is named console. String firstExample = "hello"; String secondExample = "hello"; if (firstExample.equals("secondExample")) { console.printf("first is equal to second"); } String thirdExample = "HELLO";

Equality.java

String firstExample = "hello";
String secondExample = "hello";
if (firstExample.equals("secondExample")) {
  console.printf("first is equal to second");

You're so close here! Here's the culprit:

if (firstExample.equals("secondExample"))

You're comparing the value of firstExample to the string "secondExample"... not the value of secondExample. Simply remove your quotes around secondExample.

if (firstExample.equals(secondExample))

Happy coding! :sparkles:
