Hi Guys,
This is probably a ridiculous question and I should probably finish watching Jesse's Modern Wordpress Workflow Course before posting.
However, I'm quite curious to see the comparison between a setup with Cloud Hosting compared with shared hosting.
If we use DigitalOcean and ServerPilot as an example, if you were to purchase the two popular packages you would be looking at an annual cost of around $240.00. If we looked at a Shared Hosting package such as SiteGround's GrowBig. We would look at paying an annual cost of $210.00 after Year One.
Correct me if I have misunderstood, but using the above example. The Cloud Hosting option seems like a Bargain!
I was just interested in seeing what people used for their projects, it seems Cloud Hosting would make more business sense?

35,800 PointsDigital ocean crushes Siteground in so many ways. There is not much comparison having heavily used them both. I don't use ServerPilot as I don't see much reason to.

The only downfall of Digital Ocean is for beginners. It is command line heavy however there is such fantastic tutorials on their website its easy to get started even if your not too familiar with the command line.
Digital Ocean is a lot more freedom in your dev work flow as you can spin up servers in seconds and delete them right after vs Siteground where you can't do stuff like that. Siteground has a staging feature but its limited because you can't do anything on your server since their staging package is propriatary they don't give you much access if you want to use that feature.

18,814 PointsI can't speak to Wordpress uses or business sense, but I will say I've been extremely happy with my DigitalOcean hosting. They are very affordable, and their customer service has been excellent anytime I've needed it. I use it to run a small Node.js forum, so your mileage may vary.
