Changes are not showing in my practice index code in the preview.

I opened the index.html file with the practice code "Peg Leg" in their and changed the body text and some formatting options, then pressed the preview button. The webpage remained unchanged and still showed all the preloaded "Peg Leg" material. So I went back and went to File>Save so that it was saved and didn't lose the new material, but the changes still do not show up in the preview.

Try refreshing the browser window for the preview. Sometimes clicking the preview eye just takes you to the previously opened window and, thus, wouldn't show the changes made. (and yes, you do need to save before previewing).

When I'm working with something that I am previewing often, I always close the browser window/tab that has the preview, so when I click preview, I know I'm getting a current screen.
