15,074 PointsCan't start code challenges or Quizzes after watching videos
No matter which rack I go on today whether it is in the console, Ruby, or other learning adventure tracks and coursework I cannot do the challenges or the quizzes after the videos. The challenges load but there is nothing at the top to say what needs to be done and the quizzes never load. It used to automatically load everything after watching the videos but I find that I have to manually enter into them after watching the video and they still do not work. The site also does not record that I have watched said videos after going through them either like they did all of the other days that I have logged on to the site. Hoping that things will get fixed fairly soon.

2,430 PointsIt's working fine for me. Anyone else confirm this?

15,074 PointsNot sure what the deal is but I can't any thing to work other than watching the videos. The videos used to have a thing pop up on screen to take the quizzes or challenges or re-watch them that you would go through on the video area but even that isn't showing up. No idea what the deal is but nothing I have watched is being recorded as watched and I can't seem to move on. I tried out other sections of the site that I never worked on before as well and get the same issue. It started out as the Linux console that is on the one learning adventure track has not opening at all and then I tried moving to other tracks since then figuring that I will just go back and work on that once that bug is fixed since I saw others post about the console but I can't get anything to work it seems. :(

3,011 PointsYou may want to restart your computer. I know this sounds silly but it may work after that. The Treehouse site is working for me.
Jason Breitigan
15,074 PointsIt started working again. The only issue I still have is the ubuntu console will not load. Not sure what the issue was but other than the console it is back to normal.

3,011 PointsMaybe their vm is down. I had to try several times before it would load for me last week. What OS are you using?
Jason Breitigan
15,074 PointsSadly I am on Win7 until I can afford a iMac. D:
Brian Wallace
3,011 PointsHey at least it is not Windows 8! Are you using the google "chrome" browser? that may help. You could always dual boot and install linux. I use an iMac but only have linux "CentOS" on my laptop.
Jason Breitigan
15,074 PointsI do use Chrome. I refuse to upgrade past Win7 unless Win9 ends up being extremely better than Win8. I am just hoping that I can figure out a job in the field to finance the Apple computer I want to pick up since that is going to be the direction I am heading in order to keep using Adobe products because I am pretty much finished with Windows computers and don't want to run Adobe in Wine on Linux.

3,011 PointsGood point. Adobe products are expensive too. Would be nice if they used GIMP instead of Photoshop.
Jason Breitigan
15,074 PointsThey are expensive for a reason. Adobe knows people make a solid living off of their software. I don't have much issue with the costs but it is not easy getting established in the field when you are fresh since it is highly competitive and a proper system for all design including video editing and animation as well as audio on top of the general graphic stuff all runs int some serious money. Once you get things going though it balances out and all of the stuff just gets pro-rated to the clients.

2,430 PointsAt risk of getting myself told off, there is always the option of software piracy. It's not the optimum solution, I know, but if you are going to be able to afford the real thing once you get some work, I think it's ok to use it for just a wittle bit while you have to. It's a shame they don't offer some "Student Priced" versions of their software. I love GIMP, but it's no Photoshop, that is true.

15,074 PointsI own Adobe CS5 Master Collection. So no need to pirate stuff. Besides as someone who does freelance work if I don't pay for the tools there is no point in my trying to venture into the professional realms of design.
Brian Wallace
3,011 PointsJason: That is some wonderful software. Years ago (@2002-2003) I owned a whole Adobe collection.
Thomas: Now Adobe has cloud that is pretty reasonable and student pricing to boot. Pirated software is not the way to when you are developing for others. I remember a Congressman had a website and it was proven that he used cracked software to generate his site. He is no longer a Congressman. :)

15,074 PointsYeah the Creative Cloud is going to make my migration to OS X very simple. I am upset that I can't own a license anymore but lets face it when you are working as a professional you are going to be spending the money to upgrade regardless and you still will not have as much software with the old Master Collection as you get with the entire cloud. It is a Win Win. The only issue is every once and a while they fubar some of their suite versions. I personally skipped a few versions due to not liking CS3 trial. CS4 wasn't bad but the CS5 was a big push specifically for Ai because of the Faux 3D grid they implemented. CS5.5 & CS6 weren't big enough jumps for me to even consider the upgrade. I spent $2,500 on the Adobe Master. If you do the math considering I have had it now for just about 30 months I spent more $ than I would be spending on the Creative Cloud considering the price of the monthly lease.

2,430 PointsI wasn't aware of the creative cloud stuff. That's good then.
