What is the first step for this function? I forgot after taking a day off?

It would probably be best to go back and re-watch the last couple videos to get your feet planted again. After you've done that, carefully read the challenge instructions and give it your best shot. You need a parameter.

def squar():
    pass

I haven't looked at the challenge, but you might need to give your function some parameters like:

def squar(num):
    pass

That would be my best guess on your "first step" at least.
