I've tried changing my input to test more than just the sample pattern and it keeps working. Unfortunately, I keep getting the dreaded "Bummer! Didn't get the right pattern" I don't understand what I'm missing.

231,007 PointsIt looks like you're converting to the wrong symbol.
The challenge example shows "dash" being represented in the pattern by underscore ("_"), but your code is appending a hyphen ("-") instead.
