attribute doesn't change the color of email

This code is not changing the color as mentioned in the video. Can someone help?

In many cases CSS isn't that picky about whitespace, but this isn't one of them. The space you have betwen input and your square brackets is breaking your code. Take a look at what it should look like:

input[type="text"] {
  background:red;
}

input[placeholder] {
  background:#fdfee6;
}
