35 Pointsare you using a tablet?
is he using a tablet -- i don't have one and want to know what i might use instead to trace the image since it's annoying to do with a mouse

15,206 PointsIt looks like he might just be using a mouse. If he was using a tablet he would have to adjust the brush settings pressure sensitivity to get that even line.
I would say this kind of thing would be easier to do with a tablet for sure.
Personally, I am starting to use a Wacom Intuos Pro medium sized tablet. http://www.wacom.com/en-es/products/pen-tablets/intuos-pro-medium
It takes getting used to but once you get used to it there is nothing like it.
I have already found that drawing in Photoshop or Illustrator with the tablet is much more intuitive and feels like a pen. The pressure sensitivity is pretty awesome. I am still adapting to the feel of it.
There is another tool I was going to look into called AstroPad. http://astropad.com/
It can turn your iPad into a Graphics Tablet. I havent purchased it yet but am really thinking about it. I feel it is a good idea to have a couple different input methods to keep your work fresh.
Also, dont forget good old pen and pencil and paper and traditional drawing and painting tools. Sometimes there is no substitute.
As for tracing, I do use a mouse when I need to be very precise and when using the pen tool, but that is only because I have not mastered the Wacom tablet for this. But at some point I hope to be 75% pen and tablet versus mouse.

If i open a .jpg I can't create any brush and i can't even uses brushes:
1) I open Jpeg. 2) I transform it into a template 3) I create a new layer 4) i can't create any brsuh or even draw any line!
There's something wrong but I'm not able to find a solution.

3,403 PointsHe is using a mouse. As stated below, the settings would be different if using a tablet. if you can get good at using a mouse you'll be fine using these exact techniques, but a tablet is nice to have and has pressure sensitivity settings (which you may or may not want to use).
