Android Build a Simple Android App Improving Our Code Adding an App Icon

App icon

I've overridden all hdpi images, and they were successfully undated, but the app icon was not changed to the smiley face but remained as the default android icon. Any help please?

Could you post a screenshot of the expanded res directory in your IDE and a shot of your folder structure on your file system?

Also a copy of your AndroidManifest.xml file here would be useful.

My app icon in the emulator was not updating. I cleaned the project i.e. Build>Clean Project and then rebuilt it and restarted the emulator. It then worked for me.

That also worked for me. Thanks!

Many thanx !

I was having the same problem, I updated all of the images but the icon in the emulator was still showing the default one. I uninstalled and reinstalled the application and that fixed it.

Be sure to check in the AndroidManifest.xml file that the application tag has the following attribute updated:

<application android:icon="@drawable/smiley_face_icon_or_whatever" android:label="@string/app_name" >

...replacing smiley_face_icon_or_whatever with the actual file name. :)
