My Quiz bummer says "Did you add the '#' character between id and lastName?" But isn't this right; username =+ "#";

Don't forget the quotes around "#" to make it string.

You just arranged the characters wrong. Try switching your syntax around to:

userName += "#";

If not, try this. 

var userName = id.toUpperCase();
document.write(userName + "#" + lastName.toUpperCase());

Yeah. That's what I tried but neither is still not working:
