Hi Melvin

I may not have understood the question properly but can't we just use .. for each level as in:

../../../../directory_name

To add some extra information for those who land here - in Unix systems a single full-stop means "the current directory":

.

Likewise, two full-stops mean "the parent directory":

..

A forward slash represents a directory divider, so to go back two parent directories:

../../

A single forward slash means "the root directory". This is why you see a forward slash on the end of a domain name: 

www.example.com/
