Python Challenge Step 2 of 3: Manipulating Lists with pop and insert

I do not understand what I am doing wrong. I started from the end by using .remove, then del. Thank you for the help in advance.

lists.py 
the_list = ["a", 2, 3, 1, False, [1, 2, 3]]

# Your code goes below here
the_list.insert(0, the_list.pop(3))

#the_list = [1, "a", 2, 3, False, [1, 2, 3]]
the_list.remove([1, 2, 3])
#the_list = [1, "a", 2, 3, False]
del the_list(4)
#the_list = [1, "a", 2, 3]
del the_list(1)
#the_list = [1, 2, 3]

Switch the parentheses to brackets when you're selecting an index for the del command.

With the parentheses the interpreter will attempt to call the_list like a function.
