The typical logo design process can be pretty elaborate.
0:01
Here's what a typical logo design process looks like:
0:05
First, we have the logo brief. This is where we question the client
0:10
about anything related to their product, service, or whatever the logo might be for.
0:14
This is where we can lay out all the expectations that a client may perceive their identity to accomplish.
0:21
This is also the step where we want to understand the medium or mediums we will be designing for,
0:29
as they are restrictions to our design process.
0:36
These restrictions may include elements such as size, shape, and color.
0:40
Next, we have the exploration step.
0:46
This is where we conduct research and really dig deep into the logo brief, defining all unknown facts.
0:48
This might be things like looking at their competition or digging into color theory.
0:57
After you feel comfortable with your research,
1:05
it's now time to gather all those things you feel will inspire you to construct a successful design for your client.
1:09
I like to create mood boards, gather all my images and references,
1:17
and apply them to a wall or board to use in our next stepβsketching.
1:22
The sketching process is probably the longest process of them all.
1:30
This is where we use our brief, research, and inspiration items as references to create thumbnail sketches.
1:34
There is no right and wrong in this process.
1:41
Simply put together quick thumbnail sketches and narrow down their directions.
1:44
Once you feel you have a good direction, it's now time to sit back and reflect on what you've just created.
1:54
Question each step you've done up to this point.
2:02
Make sure the direction you're proceeding in is a great representation of the brief.
2:05
The perfect process is when we bring our design or designs into an application and perfect themβ
2:14
usually it's a vector-based application, like Adobe Illustrator.
2:21
Now once you feel you have a solid finalized product
2:27
and it's documented well in a style guide, we are now ready to deliver.
2:30
Finally, we must support the identity.
2:39
This might be revamping some designs in the near future for the client or simply giving guidance.
