Alright, let's walk through
the HLOOKUP function together.
0:00
Okay, so here we have the data for
all counties in Texas, but
0:03
it's formatted in rows instead of columns.
0:07
Headers down the farthest left column
instead of across the top row.
0:10
You can see we have already
labeled row 8 as population,
0:14
so in cell B8 let's type =
HLOOKUP open parentheses
0:19
then the look up value will be the county.
0:24
Then select the three rows on
the population in units tab for the range,
0:30
And then input 3 for
it to return the third row population.
0:38
And then false,
since we're looking for exact matches.
0:43
There it is, 14,445 for
population in Newton County.
0:49
Now we can copy this formula over for
the other counties.
