Create a portfolio that will showcase your actual work rather than just the design of the portfolio site.
New Terms:
- Co-creation -- a management initiative, or form of economic strategy, that brings different parties together (for instance, a company and a group of customers), in order to jointly produce a mutually valued outcome...
- Minimal Design -- the embracing of the maxim βless is moreβ. The use of whitespace is a key consideration when thinking about minimal design.

Now that we've discussed how your work and
narrative fit into your portfolio,
0:04
it's time to start addressing the actual
visual design of your portfolio.
0:10
Simply part, make it simply put.
0:16
Go for a minimal design to
embrace the maxim less is more.
0:20
[SOUND] Let the portfolio work be
the focus in terms of typography,
0:23
color, and interactions.
0:28
To do this, choose as few typefaces,
sizes, weights, and colors as possible.
0:30
The same goes for the interactions,
keep them minimal.
0:37
Just in terms of getting started,
you'll want a grid.
0:43
There are sites like
the Responsive Grid System
0:45
that can help you calculate
the best grid for you.
0:48
And then it will generate the basic
code you need to execute that grid.
0:51
For instance,
here's a 12-column grid in action.
0:56
Rebecca used ony a handful of
typefaces and a minimal amount of
0:59
grays in her color palette to show
her work off more effectively.
1:04
She was able to subdivide
her space visually into
1:09
multiples of 12, 6, 4, 3, 2, and 1.
1:13
For responsive design, that 12-column
grid tends to be the most versatile.
1:18
Once you've created a grid to
flow all of your content into,
1:24
it's time to start filling that grid.
1:29
We'll use the next video to
talk about getting feedback
1:32
once you've begun adding that content.
